Aromas and Flavors of Zinfandel

Zinfandel, the blood relative of the Italian grape, Primitivo, is known for the intense fruit, often intense perfumed fruit or floral nose, and spices. If matured in American oak barrels, it would pick up more vanilla and sweet baking spices, both on the nose ("aromas") and in the mouth ("flavors"). Zinfandel in California generally have two popular styles, the jammy profile of condensed fruit, or bright profile of fresh, though could be concentrated fruit.
